Jardine Ghost Town of the Month

Jardine is a small, unincorporated village in Park County, MT. It is north of Gardiner on inactive travertine terraces. The town’s chief industry was a gold mine.

By 1898, the mining camp contained 130 buildings. Bush was unsuccessful in running the camp and in 1903, the camp’s name was changed from Bush to Jardine. In 1903, The Gold Mining and Milling Company built a 150 ton cyanide plant. In 1923, an arsenic plant was built but in 1948, a fire destroyed the plant.
